On Thursday, September 28, 2023, the 9th Concrete Components Topics took place in Berlin. Under this year’s theme “Building with precast concrete elements – yesterday, today and tomorrow”, our customers were able to gain interesting insights into various topics.

Speakers from various fields gave their technical presentations in the morning, offering valuable insights and perspectives. The first lecture was dedicated to the topic “Building with concrete in changing times”, presented by Sergej Tchoban of Tchoban Voss Architects.

Prof. Dr. Mike Schlaich from the Technical University of Berlin provided a perspective on the current state of the art in lightweight construction and showed possibilities to realize durable construction.

Digital project management in BIM projects was impressively presented by Mr. Ulf Reuther from thomas gruppe, underlining the increasing importance of technology and innovation in construction.

Finally, Ms. Natalie Keller from Keller Baurecht broadened our horizon with her presentation on “Exposed Concrete and Contract Law”. Her repeated participation in our event highlighted her expertise and valuable contribution.

In the afternoon, we were able to enjoy a “somewhat different construction site tour” on the Spree River in bright sunshine. This not only allowed us to explore Berlin from a different perspective, but also provided insights into our own construction sites at thomas betonbauteile.

The day culminated in the evening with a joint dinner followed by our “thomas Casino”. Here our customers could dive into an entertaining world and try their luck with play money without having to worry.

All in all, it was an all-round successful event that underlined our determination to remain a strong and reliable partner for our customers in the future. We look forward to continuing to accompany you in your construction projects and to being successful together.

In September we celebrate a very special anniversary – 30 years of our Löbnitz site in Saxony-Anhalt. It is an occasion that fills us with pride and prompts us to express our sincere thanks to our employees and customers.

Over the past three decades, we have experienced ups and downs together, mastered challenges and celebrated successes. Without the support, trust and loyalty of our customers, this would not have been possible.

But special thanks are also due to our employees. You are the heart of our company and have contributed significantly to our success with your commitment, expertise and team spirit. Through your hard work and dedication, you have made our site what it is today – a place where innovation, quality and customer satisfaction take center stage.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you for your loyalty, your support and your cooperation. Thank you for the many unforgettable moments we have shared together. Without you, we would not be here where we are today.

We look forward to continuing to celebrate new successes together in the years to come. Here’s to the next 30 years at our Löbnitz location!

The team of thomas betonbauteile Hennickendorf

We, thomas betonbauteile, participated in the training fair in Petershagen-Fredersdorf from May 5 to 6 and were more than satisfied with the result.
The stand was ideally placed and the fair as a whole was very well organized.
Our hands-on activity, where visitors could try out small quick concrete jobs, was a complete success and opened many contacts.

On Friday, mainly young people came through the hall, while on Saturday both parents and young people came by with specific ideas.
We had good discussions and are confident that we will be able to attract new apprentices as a result.

The organization of the two days was mainly in the hands of our 2nd year apprentices, Thomas Lieder and Nils Clemens Dzurny. They were supported by Manja Ebert (billing clerk) and Katrin Schulz (trainer and plant manager), both of whom could be found at the stand around the clock.

Thomas and Nils were also available for interviews on the trade fair stage and cut a good figure there.

All in all, we had a lot of fun representing our location and the thomas gruppe at the trade fair.
We are proud of our trainees and the entire team that contributed to this successful appearance.

Fehrbellin - School class

Under the motto “Companies at schools”, an event was held on 19.01. to support students in their search for an apprenticeship. The Fontane School in Neuruppin revived this event after Corona and many companies from the area took part – including us!

Together with our colleagues from the Fehrbellin site, we were able to give the inquisitive students an insight into the field of concrete components. Afterwards, a question and answer session took place, which was accepted with great interest by the students.

We, thomas betonbauteile Fehrbellin, welcome and support such events. We also have to think about the new generation and the future of the sites. Thus, the event of the FontaneSchule is a successful opportunity to give an insight and to exchange ideas.

On 09.09.22, a big summer party was celebrated on the premises of thomas betonbauteile in Georgensgmünd.

Around 120 invited guests took their seats in the specially erected marquee. Employees of the thomas group, the Georgensgmünd site, the managing director Jörg Staiger as well as the owner Eckhardt Thomas proudly presented the reconstruction results to the partners and customers of the region. With an investment sum of approx. 6.5 million € and a total of three years of conversion work, the precast concrete plant was completely renovated and modernised, turning “old” into “new”. Only the supporting structure is still reminiscent of the old plant.

The guests present were able to take a close look at all the innovations during guided tours of the plant and received further information on production and the modernisation work. In addition, they were given an insight into the working methods at thomas betonbauteile and were allowed to get to know selected workplaces from CAD, scheduling and work preparation. The brave among the guests were allowed to enjoy the view from a height of 30 metres down from the mixing tower. With subsequent catering in the marquee, the afternoon was brought to a close with interesting conversations and delicious food.

The thomas betonbauteile Georgensgmünd site would like to thank all participants for the successful festival and the great cooperation!

Due to the cramped conditions at the previous office location, it was decided to take a space-creating measure. An office building was planned, but was rejected due to costs and loss of further storage capacity. The current rental property is located only 2 minutes drive from the Remscheid freeway access and the landlord Mr. Klostermann with the additional pulling in of load-bearing walls accommodated.

The implementation of the move is done within 2-3 months and thus creates:

  • Space for new employees and trainees
  • Space in the old building for other departments such as sales, KV and production
  • No noise pollution from production and public traffic, which leads to better concentration, quality and increased performance

A possibility for meeting or visitor rooms, as well as a large break room

  • The design of large, bright offices, which provides a pleasant working atmosphere
  • Enlargement of the control room in the double-wall/element ceiling plant, which will also create a pleasant workspace for production employees
  • Restoring a parking facility for visitors and the employees (on the Knapp), which before was crowded and problematic

Within one month, the plant in Remscheid was re-equipped.

The following measures to increase productivity and production capacity were implemented:

  • Old steel processing was dismantled and disposed of, automatic steel processing was installed
  • Robot relocation
  • Own lattice girder production
  • Enclosure of the drying chamber to increase quality, as fewer cracks are formed due to uniform and faster curing of the components, consequently faster take-off times

Due to this rebuilding there is an assurance and improvement of the quality of the semi-finished parts. It is worth mentioning that the automation of the robot also makes the work easier – facilitating the working conditions and preserving the jobs in the production.

Halle (Saale), 11/01/2020: The “Chance 2020” trade fair for training, jobs and new business owners was held for the 17th time in Halle (Saale) from 10 to 11 January 2020. Around 300 exhibitors attended the largest trade fair of its type in Saxony-Anhalt. More than 10,000 visitors were welcomed on both days. The thomas gruppe used the opportunity to hold discussions with students, young professionals and specialists. With solid support from Jeannine Rudolph (Invoicing) and Tommy Stock (Work Preparation), Carolin Papke (Trainer) and Konrad Ludwig (HR) provided information on training offers in Löbnitz and other sites in the region.

The focus was on training as a business administrator (m/f/o) as well as a precast concrete fabricator (m/w/o) to help the thomas gruppe continue on its growth path. What’s more, visitors were able to gain an insight into the jobs of CAD draughtsmen, plant operators as well as receivables management.

The motivating and spirited attitude of the support team ensured that the stand was sought-out by the public. In particular, the concrete elements that could be touched and held as well the exciting videos from the concrete component product plants attracted a great deal of attention.

Georgensgmünd, 23/08/2019: This year, thomas betonbauteile Georgensgmünd GmbH & Co. KG is investing around 6 million euros in the Georgensgmünd plant. The concrete components plant produces prefabricated ceilings, solid walls, staircases and balconies for residential construction and has been part of the medium-sized thomas gruppe since September 2017. The concrete mixing plant was completely refurbished and upgraded to the latest state-of-the-art. An environmentally-friendly recycling plant for residual concrete was also added. A new environmentally-friendly gas heater was installed in the kiln for the prefabricated ceilings, whose residual heat will be used for drying. In September, important parts of the plant in the ceiling production department will be upgraded, the steel and lattice girder processing area renovated and the circulation system equipped with the latest control technology. This will further improve the quality, increase capacity and also reduce the noise pollution.

Delbrück-Boke, 21/08/2019: This year, thomas betonbauteile Delbrück GmbH & Co. KG is investing over 3 million euros in the plant in Delbrück Boke. The concrete components plant produces prefabricated ceilings, staircases and balconies for residential construction and has been part of the medium-sized thomas gruppe since 2012.

“We are very grateful to Mr Thomas for the investment in the sustainability of the plant as this secures the jobs of 35 employees,” says Regional Manager Hermann Overbeck.

A completely new concrete mixing plant was built on the premises. The plant will be operated by Gloria Transportbeton. The new site directly at the ceiling plant allows the concrete spreader to be directly filled with concrete for ceiling production. In addition, the new concrete mixing plant has an environmentally-friendly recycling plant into which any remaining concrete can be washed out and reused.

The ceiling production at the plant underwent an extensive upgrade. The circulation system is now equipped with the latest plant engineering with robots for steel and lattice girder processing. The kiln was expanded and a new environmentally-friendly gas heater installed. The better hot air distribution also enabled drying times to be optimised.
