On 23 September 1920, Emil Thomas founded the civil engineering company
Emil Thomas in Würrich, Germany.
The 30s – the beginning
Emil Thomas showed a great deal of entrepreneurial courage with his move to establish a company during the Great Depression. Success proved him right: the first road construction crew employed by Emil Thomas was tasked with restoring parts of the destroyed Hunsrückstraße. The company quickly developed into an efficient and competitive operation, with turnover reaching 225,000 reichsmark in 1935.
In 1937/38 the company, thomas, played a major role in constructing the Hunsrückhöhenstraße.
